The insurance claim adjuster is a person who is responsible for carrying out a number of important tasks on behalf of an insurance company. The insurance claim process forms the bulk of the work done by different insurance companies. And it is the adjuster who is responsible for the smooth running of these claims. The aim of making insurance policies is the protection of personal or business property, and any damage therein leads to an insurance claim by the victim. The policies made to ensure return of money in lieu of any damage incurred to the property of the policy holder. If the damage or the destruction of the insured property occurs because of an accident which is being covered through the insured risk, the policy holder gets the compensation after making a claim regarding it. In such cases it is the insurance adjuster who is brought in to help the company decide how much money needs to be given to the victim as a compensation for the damage incurred. An adjuster has myriad roles to play with regards to the various insurance claims being made.

An adjuster prepares, plans and organizes the claim. They approach all the persons related to the damage done, i.e. The claimant, the police officers, the witnesses, health care professionals, lawyers or anybody else who have a role to play in the accident or the destruction that has occurred. Besides talking to various individuals, the insurance claim adjuster also needs to gather the evidence related to the case in hand such as photographs, statements, etc. Which not only helps the adjuster to assess the situation clearly enough but can also make or break the case for the claimant. An insurance claim report is made based on the evidence gathered and then submitted to the insurance company. These claim reports form the basis of the insurance claim process. There is a review by the company involved followed by the approval of the claimant which results in the monetary compensation to the policy holder.

The claim examiners come in between and they are concerned with the reviewing of the claims submitted by the policy holder so as to make sure that no important point or evidence has been left behind by the claim adjuster while making the claim report. In cases of natural disasters when the number of insurance claims being made escalates, the claim examiner works in close collaboration with the adjuster for the proper submission of the claim reports. Another person who may be involved in the process of the claim is the public claim adjuster. Such professionals are hired by the policy holders themselves which may include both individuals and even business houses. They are taken in when the victim feels the need of a neutral party involvement who is not being employed by the insurance company. Such a person is considered an impartial party who has the best interests of the claimant in heart. A public claims adjuster negotiates with the insurance company on behalf of the policy holder.
